I’ve had a varied career starting with interest in and the confluence of music and the arts. This led me to the basement years of grunge before it was grunge. I wore many hats: artist, band manager, musician, record executive and student. I then relocated to San Francisco to focus on my art career with interest in sculptures and painting.
I took time out to raise a family. And then found my roots and returned. I am focused on creating a variety of themed work that sources material from my background and psyche.
I am currently developing my new "Spolia" series about existence and absorption of earlier meaningful objects of significance. "Spolia" is a term used to refer to objects taken as spoils of conquest and reused to support a new order. For me I am redefining this as a feeling that refers to not belonging or being on the outside. It also means not connecting to either the old or new, but being in-between forces/pressure. A disconnection from the past and an inability to connect to the present. This series expresses the feeling of being on the outside or in-between.
I am a member of City Arts cooperative in SF (828 Valencia, SF). My studio is located in Sausalito, California at the Liberty Ship complex.
