My career unfolded at the intersection of music and the visual arts in Seattle. Early on, this convergence led me into the underground music scene during the formative, pre-named years of grunge. During that period, I moved fluidly between roles as artist, band manager, dj, and student, gaining a broad and embodied understanding of creative ecosystems.
I later relocated to San Francisco to focus more fully on my visual art practice, working primarily in painting and sculpture. After stepping away for a time to raise a family, I returned to my studio practice with renewed focus and a deeper sense of purpose.
My current work draws from personal history and psychological terrain, developing themed bodies of work that explore memory, material, and meaning. I am presently developing my Spolia series, which centers on memory and change. The term spolia refers to objects intentionally reused in new contexts, altering or complicating their original meaning. I engage this concept both formally and personally, particularly as it relates to my mother’s experience with dementia. Through this work, I explore the idea that memory is never fully erased, but persists in fragments, traces, and echoes that bear witness to earlier truths.
I am a member of City Arts cooperative in SF (828 Valencia, SF). My studio is located in Sausalito, California at the Liberty Ship creative complex.
